In the Episcopal Church, we use bulletins (service booklets) as a means of worship. Each individual present is an active participant, whether or not they have a specific role in the service. Our bulletins contain rubrics to provide context on what is happening in the service, as well as instruct attendees on when to respond or pray.
Our services are largely derived from the 1979 version of The Book of Common Prayer, a liturgical resource developed by the Church of England. The Book of Common Prayer follows the seasons of the Christian calendar, which provides us a framework for entering in to the whole story that the Bible is telling – the story of a God of love who gave us Jesus as a representation of who God is.
