Becoming a Member

At the Church of the Ascension, membership is more than simply having your name on a list—it’s about belonging to a community that worships, grows, serves, and lives out the love of Christ together.

How to Become a Member

We welcome you with joy! There are several paths to becoming a member of the Episcopal Church and of Ascension:

The process begins by sharing your desire to become a member with our Rector or the Parish Office. We will then work with you on your pathway to membership.

Pathways to Membership

Transfer of Membership – If you are coming from another Episcopal parish or another Christian tradition, we can help transfer your membership records from that church.

Baptism – Holy Baptism is full initiation into the Body of Christ and the Church. If you have not been baptized, we will walk with you in preparing for this Sacrament.

Confirmation – Those who were baptized at an earlier age or in another Christian tradition are invited to confirm their baptismal vows in the presence of a bishop.

Expectations of Members

Membership is a commitment to a shared way of life rooted in Christ. At Ascension, we help each other to:

Worship Regularly
Gathering in worship is at the heart of who we are. Together, we are strengthened and shaped more fully into the Body of Christ.

Grow Spiritually
Deepen your faith through Christian formation, study, and reflection, allowing God to transform your life.

Serve Others
Live out Christ’s call to love your neighbor by serving within the church and in the wider community.

Give Sacrificially
Support the mission of the church with your time, talents, and financial resources. Our goal is to grow toward the giving a sacrificial percentage of your income, time, and talent.

Seek Reconciliation
In times of conflict, speak the truth in love and work toward healing, peace, and unity with one another.

Pray Daily
Nourish your relationship with God through prayer and engagement with Scripture, both privately and with others.

Share the Good News
Witness to God’s love by sharing the story of Christ’s work in your life with the church and the world.
