Christian formation

Christian formation is a lifelong journey of deepening our relationships—with Christ, with ourselves, with one another, and with all of creation. At its heart, formation is not about mastering information but about being shaped and reshaped by love: God’s love for us and the love we are called to embody in the world.

We believe that every life experience—joy and sorrow, doubt and conviction, action and contemplation—offers an opportunity to grow in faith. In our formation, we honor questions as much as answers, and we welcome diverse perspectives that reflect the rich tapestry of God’s people.

Rooted in the Episcopal tradition and open to the movement of the Spirit, we seek to follow Jesus in ways that are both thoughtful and courageous. Our formation equips us to live authentically and compassionately, bearing witness to God’s justice, mercy, and peace in a world that often resists them. Whether through study, prayer, conversation, or service, we commit to growing together in Christ’s love—for the sake of our own transformation and the healing of the world.

Christian Formation for Adults

Bible Study
Sundays 9:45 am – 10:45 am

This lay-led group, supported by clergy, is dedicated to exploring the Bible one book at a time. Each session focuses on understanding the historical, cultural, and literary context of Scripture—who wrote it, when and why, and how it spoke to its original audience. We seek to uncover the richness of the text by paying attention to its setting and structure, not just its surface meaning. This approach helps us listen more carefully to what God is saying through the Bible in both its ancient world and our present lives.

Rector’s Forum
Sundays 9:45 am – 10:45 am

Most Sundays we offer a forum led by our Rector (head pastor), this forum explores a wide range of topics—spiritual, theological, social, and cultural—and invites open discussion among church members and guests. Each session connects our conversations to the Christian faith and Episcopal tradition.

Gather in the Middle
Most Wednesdays (August through April), we gather for dinner from 5:30–6:00 p.m., followed by an hour of study and discussion. Topics vary throughout the year, offering engaging and accessible opportunities to grow in faith and fellowship.

Christian Formation for Children

Sundays 9:45 am – 10:45 am

Godly Play
For children from pre-K through 4th grade, Godly Play introduces the life-changing message of Jesus in a fun, creative way. This method encourages children to explore Christian language and make personal connections to Scripture through storytelling and imaginative play.

Key Aspects of Godly Play:

  • Creative Exploration: Encourages personal meaning-making through stories.
  • Community Focus: Builds relationships through shared experiences.
  • Holistic Understanding: Connects biblical narratives to personal and communal life.

Re:form Youth (Grades 4–8)

Our Re:form Youth program invites pre-teens into a lively and thoughtful exploration of faith. Designed especially for youth in grades 4 through 8, this curriculum brings Bible stories to life through 40 animated short videos that combine clever humor with solid theological insight. The result is a dynamic and engaging experience that gets our young people thinking deeply about God, Scripture, and their own spiritual journeys.

We create a safe and welcoming space where questions are encouraged, curiosity is celebrated, and each young person is seen as a full and valued member of the body of Christ. Through discussion, reflection, and laughter, our youth grow in their understanding of faith—and their confidence to live it out in the world.

Cartersville Youth Community

Together, we are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all youth can bring their questions, doubts, hopes, and concerns.

Rooted in shared Christian values and mutual respect, this community provides a space for connection, exploration, and spiritual growth—no matter who you are or where you come from. Through games, worship, conversation, and service, we build relationships and encourage one another to live out our faith with authenticity and compassion.
