“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me,  I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” -Jesus of Nazareth as quoted in Matthew 25:35-36

At the Church of the Ascension, “we challenge ourselves to love like Jesus,” and in 2018 the Outreach ministry intensified that challenge.  While Outreach’s primary focus is providing food to those in need at the Red Door Food Pantry (RDFP), this year we added the mobile food pantry, a grant-purchased refrigerated truck.  So, in addition to distributing food on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings, we also traveled to south Bartow County to distribute food on the first and third Saturdays of every month.

During this time of growth, we said a grateful goodbye to Outreach chair Lacy McClung and greeted co-chairs Kathy Gnann and Kyle Harshey after we all made a decision to share leadership responsibilities between two people.  Thank you, chairs, for your service.  Thank you, Karen Tindall, for your labor of love as the volunteer director of the RDFP.  Thank you, Melanie Lambert with TurnKey Writing Solutions, for event planning of the Mardi Gras and fine contributions throughout the year.
